Elephant Hill – A state of the art addition to Hawke’s Bay’s landscape

Describing itself as a contemporary, innovative winery estate, the Elephant Hill Winery on the Te Awanga coast is a world-class operation that required sophisticated, quality workmanship from all involved in its construction.

Electrotech’s electrical contracting division started on the project in January 2007, and it has been one of its highest value contracts for a single job undertaken to date.

The $2 million electrical contract for the winery and the lodge included installing the wiring, electrical fittings, voice, data and communications networking, fire, security, audio visual and sound systems.

 The company’s specialist ability to handle all aspects of the job in-house allowed it to meet the various requirements of the project in the most efficient way possible.

In the winery this included the tank rooms, underground cellars, winemaking control systems, feature lighting and reflection pool.

The installation also included automated lighting controls for the diner lighting system in the restaurant, as well as data and phone systems, and extensive landscape lighting around the buildings. Fire and security features included alarms, access control and automated entry gates.

“We also built a stand-by generator, and a big switchboard and control panels. Our in-house ability to do all this under one roof was a major benefit on a project like this.”
